What's it been, a week? Almost a week?

My philosophy to this point has been simple: don't eat any junk. If/ when I am hungry I choose something good for me. We went on a shopping spree, the cabinets are full of health food, and there should be no excuse for raiding Christian's snack drawer, binging on cookies and chips, or anything like that.

Fruit smoothies, trail mix, walnuts, apples, oatmeat, carrots, prunes, yogurt, water, peanut butter and honey sandwiches on whole weat bread, tuna fish, and healthy dinners with plenty of vegetables like corn, beans, and broccoli.

That's what I do. If I crave sweet or salty I satisfy it with some healthy non-processed food. For a while I felt hungry all the time, but I just kept eating foods on the list. I was worried that I was still eating a ton of calories and that I wouldn't see any weight loss...

Well, now I am seeing a pretty dramatic decrease in appatite. I feel full/ satisfied most of the time. When meal time rolls around I'm not that hungry. I don't feel compelled to find something to eat. I still eat regularly, several small meals (though sometimes I try to "fill up" when I am around healthy food and know I won't be back for a while, like at work) and there have been occassional indulgences like cookies at Transpo and Pizza (veggie pizza) the other day for dinner, but on the whole I am eating much better then I have before. I am also eating bigger meals in the morning and less at night.

People talk about how your body will go through a period of adjustment when you radically change your diet, and once you are on the other side you will be used to eating the healthier food and your body will respond accordingly. It hasn't been long enough to say for sure- I tend to go through phases of being more and less hungry anyway, but maybe I am getting healthier. I guess time will tell.
